Here David is crying out to God because his son Absolam has caused a rebellion. Many go up against Daved during this time. A lot of people keep telling him that God can not help him. Instead of allowing these circumstances and the words others are saying to get him down, he turns to God for help. He cries to God because He is the ONLY person that could help him. Imagine the heartache of having the one you love stabbing you in the back like that. But as always, God heard David, just like He hears us. I really like how David is in distress in the first part of this chapter then he cries out to God and the next thing you see he's laying down to sleep. God sustains him and gives him the hope and strength he needs. I love how David says, "I will not be afraid of then thousands of people." God took care of that problem for him...David has nothing to fear. I really like the last verse, "Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah." God will save us and bless us because we are HIS people. We belong to Him....ahhhh...I LOVE that!!!! Too many people say that they feel like they don't belong...well HELLO...you BELONG to GOD!!!!! He loves you, cares for you...YOU are HIS!!!!!
I can't help but think what would have happened to David if he would have allowed himself to get discouraged by this rebellion and rejection. What if he had listened to them and NOT turned to God for help? Who would have sustained him? Who would have saved and blessed him? What blessings and encouragement are we missing out on because we turn to everyone and everything else instead of turning to God who can take our anguish and sustain us through it? Did the problem disappear? No. But there is Someone right there helping...IF you turn to Him for help. I'm sorry, but I think I want my help from the One who created me and this world I live in. I would rather have help from the Creator than the created.
Such a simple but important concept!!! Like so many people go to medications, or psychiatrists for relief from their problems instead of God!! It's pretty crazy that some Christians put more trust in a $200 medication or a $300 psychiatrist visit than a priceless God that can do ANYTHING for you if you ask, AND are obedient to him!! It's just crazy that, like you said, people turn to the created instead of the Creator!!! "What blessings and encouragement are we missing out on because we turn to everyone and everything else instead of turning to God" THAT'S powerful...nothing else to add to that statement!!! Ya I mean, if you are obeying God and honoring him in all you do, then there's no reason that when you ask Him for help, hHe won't give it. If you live right, and ask Him for help, He's probably gonna be like "She/He honors me in what they do and I know that they REALLY live their life always trying to please me and show others the way to Me...I'm going to give them that help." I Like this one!!!:D

Oh and He is a pretty awesome listener and is SO much better than a psychiatrist and He is the BEST Healer that anyone could ask for!!!!!:) It is crazy!!!!! How could they not see what He has done for so many years and discard His record and go out on there own to take care of themselves!!!! WHY?!?!? SERIOUSLY...He has SO much more experience than ANYONE else...why not let the Expert take care of it!!!!! Yes...I agree...if we're doing what we're supposed to do God will help us...maybe not in the way that we were thinking but in the way that is best for our life!!! When God is convenient for them, they will invite Him into their lives. When they don't need anything from him then it's not convenient for Him to be a part of their lives....THAT is sad!!!! I heard a preacher say once that sometimes God brings trials into our lives to get our attention so that we WILL call on Him for help!!! It's sad that our relationship is based on our needs instead of on our true enjoyment and pleasure of just being with Him!!!!

It'd be so cool if we could have His view and see how all the dots are being connected!!!:D:D A beautiful story can only be made possible through Him!!...I like how you want people to have beautiful lives through Christ!!!:) That's what Dad says a lot...if you only come to God when you need something, don't even come at all...it cheapens God when you do that. We (Christians) need to just talk to God all the time. When were at the pump, thank him for the money for the gas. On the way to work tell Him you need to get there quickly. Thank him that you didn't jam your fingers in your door! Know what I'm sayin...just TALK to God ALL the time!!:D

Yes it would be!!!!!...it would be so much easier...but then again...that's where faith comes in...we have to trust God that He knows what He is doing!!!!:) Well...it's the only way to have a beautiful life...through Him!!!!:) If we try to do it without Him it may be beautiful for a moment but it will wilt away in the end...His beauty lasts forever!!!!!:) YES....i LOVE that!!!! ReplyDeleteI love Psalms. The prayers and songs David wrote in there are so amazing and can learn so much. For instance, back to an earlier conversation about how we need the Creator and not the created when in trouble, etc. I read this in my devotions yesterday. Read Job 1-5 slowly and see how the correlation between Job's discourse and David's prayers and songs are (I wonder why they are next to together? hahaha pretty awesome, huh?!!). Focus on Job 5: 19-20. Read those verses and flip over to Psa. 34:19 and Prov. 24:16. These verses jumped out of the page to me. In order for God to deliver us we must remain "just" and "right" throughout the trial, or we must get to the level of being "just" and "right." That is a challenge for all of us to strive for, especially on an every day basis. God puts us through trials to strengthen our "justness" or he puts us through them to get us back to where we need to be. This is why it's necessary for us to have a daily walk so we can remain just and right. Once that slips and we decline in our daily lives God usually will put us through a hardship to get us back to where we were. And vice-versa when we are at our best. God will put us through a hardship to strengthen the whatever amount of strength we have (hope that wasn't confusing). For instance, in order for a muscle in your body to get stronger it must be put through resistance and and a "tearing down" point. God tears us down to build us up stronger. But, it's up to us to become stronger. Some quit. I preached a message on this once. LOL!!
